The Governing Body's primary role is to guide the school's strategic development and promote high educational standards.
Its responsibilities are centered on three key functions:
- Ensuring clarity of the school's vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
- Holding the headteacher accountable for the educational performance of both the school and its pupils.
- Monitoring the school’s financial performance to ensure resources are used effectively and efficiently.

The Governing Body is composed of the following members:
- Sixteen co-opted governors, appointed by the Governing Body
- One staff governor, elected by school staff
- Two parent governors, elected by parents
- One Local Authority governor, nominated by the local authority
- The Headteachers from the schools within the Federation
This diverse group ensures a balanced representation from the school community and local authority, providing comprehensive governance.
Below is some information about the Herbert Morrison Associate Governors and details of the Wyvern Governors
Owain Thomas - Co-opted Governor - Chair of Herbert Morrison School Committee
Associate Governors - Originally from South Wales, has lived in London since leaving university in 1994 and is now a barrister. Owain is the Safeguarding Governor.
Christopher Toye - Executive Headteacher
Executive Headteacher for the Wyvern Federation of schools which includes Wyvil Primary School, Ashmole Primary School and Vauxhall Primary School.
Lucy Peake - Headteacher
Headteacher– grew up in Pimlico and has been at HMPS since 1997. BEd Honours in Education and National Professional Qualification Headship. Lucy leads on Safeguarding across the Federation and delivers training for the London South Teaching School Hub.
Neil Moorcroft - Staff Governor Deputy Headteacher
Co-opted Governor – Deputy Headteacher. Neil has been at HMPS since 2001. He studied to be a teacher at Roehampton Institute.
John Connolly - Co-opted Governor and vice chair of the Herbert Morrison committee
An educationalist who works for England’s Children’s Commissioner, John was previously with the Teacher Training Agency and the Department of Education. John is currently the SEND and Safeguarding Governor.
Dayo Odunlami - Parent Governor
An Engineer specialising in Transport Innovation and as a father of four, is dedicated to fostering growth and potential as a Parent Governor. He strives to create an inclusive environment where every student, staff member and parent can thrive and flourish.
Viktoria Steinhoff - Associate Governor
Has lived and worked in local area for 20 years. Background in health care. Has been a parent at HMPS for 14 years still has son in KS2.
Mark Rogers - Parent Governor
Has lived in Lambeth since 2006, with two children currently at HMPS. Mark is a senior leader at a secondary school in Westminster.

Governor Diversity
A survey of Governor Diversity was conducted in 2024. Summary - The survey reflects a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences, and characteristics among the governors, which enhances the board’s ability to represent and understand the varied community it serves. Notable areas include a high proportion of female representation, a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, and multiple languages spoken, aligning with the Federation's rich cultural profile.
